Photos taken on February 22, 2016 show that people living in “tulou” celebrate the traditional Chinese Lantern Festival with spectacular displays of light and dragon dances in Longyan city, southeast China’s Fujian province.
The delicate lanterns and dragon suits are all handcrafted by local residents. They demonstrate the lantern artworks, meaning to illuminate the future, and perform the dragon dance to pray for good fortune.

The Lantern Festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the first Chinese lunar month, and traditionally it represents the end of Chinese New Year period. People usually get together on the night of the Lantern Festival to celebrate with various activities.

A tulou (土楼), or "earthen building", is a traditional communal residence found in Fujian, usually of a circular configuration surrounding a central shrine. These vernacular structures were occupied by clan groups.
