The glass bridge across the Zhuangjiajie Grand Canyon successfully closes on Dec. 3, 2015 in central China's Hunan province. Spanning a total of 430 meters, the bridge is 375 meters long, 6 meters wide and 300 meters above the valley floor. This transparent glass bridge ranks first globally in both length and height. CHANGSHA, Dec. 21 -- A contest has begun to come up with a name for the world's longest and highest glass bridge in Zhangjiajie, Hunan Province in central China.
The 430-meter bridge boasts the world's steepest zip line and highest bungee platform (300 meters).
Construction work was completed on Dec.3 and it will be opened to the public before May, 2016. The closing date for entries is Feb. 29, 2016 and it must be possible to represent the name in no more than ten Chinese characters. "Zhangjiajie", "Daxiagu"(Grand Canyon) and "glass bridge" will not be counted.
Suggested names should be original and reflect the unique nature of the structure. Entries must be made through social media app, WeChat.
Whoever comes up with the winning name will be awarded 10,000 yuan(1,543.4 U.S. dollars) for each word, will be invited to the opening ceremony and given the title Denominator of Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge, a lifelong honor allowing the winner to visit Zhangjiajie for free for life.
Another 1,000 entrants will be chosen at random and invited, along with a family member, on a tour of the location before the end of 2016.
The Grand Canyon Scenic Area in Zhangjiajie received 1.15 million visitors from home and abroad in 2014 and has seen 1.2 million visitors in the first 11 months of 2015.
