Mr. Huang, 85, fell in love with 67-year-old Liu eight years ago, and they soon lived together. After three years, Huang and Liu broke up. According to the agreement they signed when they broke up, Huang had to pay 100,000 yuan to Liu as break-up fee.

In 2007, Huang met Liu, who is 18 years younger than him. After seeing each other for a while, Huang bought an apartment in Haikou and invited Liu to live with him. Three years later in August 2010, the two made an agreement to stop the cohabitation.

According to Liu, the main problem was that she was getting too old to take care of Huang. The agreement said the apartment they both owned would be put on sale, in addition, Huang agreed to give 100,000 yuan to Liu from the money he got from selling the apartment. However, Huang never gave the money to Liu in the following five years, so Liu sued Huang in early 2015.

At the court, Huang said the agreement was not valid, and he even suggested Liu had committed extortion, fraud, and blackmail crimes. Huang argued that Liu told him that she had been divorced for 10 years but the fact was she just got divorced in January 2011. And since they lived together, Liu had never really pay attention to the home. She even stole Huang’s money. To end this nightmare as soon as possible, Huang agreed to sign the agreement.

The court eventually made a ruling that Huang has to pay the 100,000 yuan to Liu since the agreement they signed is legitimate, and the court will not process Huang’s accusations on Liu.
