A doctor of medicine complained through her WeChat account about how difficult her daughter’s mathematic problems are on Nov.11.
She complained that her daughter just went to first grade, but her mathematical problems are so difficult that she can’t solve them.
She said her daughter is frustrated by the math problems and is losing interest in the subject.
She said that her daughter has been unwilling to go school for the past week. At the beginning, she thought she was lazy. Later, her daughter told her she wasn't doing well in math. The mother found that the teacher would set several difficult math problems for her daughter, which often frustrated her.
She told the reporter of Qianjiang Evening News that the difficult problems are not easy to solve, even for parents.
She said her daughter had never gone to extra study classes before she went to primary school. Later she found her daughter lagged behind her classmates.
A math teacher told the reporter that not every math problem is that hard, with only a few being particularly difficult.
The teacher said such hard problems aim to increase students’ math knowledge. Another math teacher said students should take the hard problems better and work on building up their logical thinking ability through solving the problems.
