Alibaba Group outlined its strategy for 2015 Tmall 11.11 Global Shopping Festival on Wednesday in Hangzhou, eastern China. A buying spree of imported goods is expected during the festival, according to industry insiders.

Unlike the former Tmall 11.11 shopping festivals, Alibaba Group makes the sales of imports a priority for the 2015 Tmall 11.11 Global Shopping Festival. Chinese consumers can buy imported products of 5,000 international brands from 25 countries while 50 million commodities items from 5,000 Chinese companies will be available to global consumers at a discount. Consumers will enjoy free delivery service for these commodities which are said to be sold at the lowest price.

Alibaba raked in 57.1 billion yuan from the 24-hour online sales on Nov. 11, 2014, proof of Chinese consumers' strong consumption capacity and demand. It is estimated that the sale might reach more than 100 billion yuan during the 2015 11.11 shopping festival. In the last fiscal year, Alibaba pulled in 2.5 trillion yuan from online sales, accounting for 9 percent of all retail consumption in China.

In order to ease pressure on the online payment system, the Ant Financial will work with Tmall.com to invest 50 million yuan to promote the use of a third-party online payment platform "Ant Check Later". The Ant Financial is expected to introduce the platform "Ant Check Later" for the first time in 2015.
