A woman stabbed a boy at his home and gouged his eyes out in a bloody attack that happened in a village in Yushu, northeast China's Jilin province Sunday.

According the boy's family, the knife wounds of the boy aren't fatal. However his eyeballs were out of the sockets when he was found. It was uncertain whether his eyes can be kept or not.

The victim surnamed Zhu, 12, was taking care of the family's store as his parents worked in the field.

At 6 a.m., a woman entered the store and bought a bottle of beer. Later she said to the boy that she wanted an ice-cream.

When the boy turned to get the ice-cream, the woman suddenly hit him down with the bottle, then stabbed him and gouged his eyes out.

The child told his family that after his eyes were injured, he couldn't see. However he felt the woman lit the gas tank inside the house according to the sound and smell. So he climbed out of the house to the yard.

The boy's parents who were working in the field saw the smoke arising from their house and rushed home immediately. They saw the woman lying on the ground, with no breath. Beside her, there were two bottles of pesticides. The woman surnamed Wang is a villager who had conflicts with the boy's family.

The case is still under investigation by the local police.
