Fried rice stall gains popularity online overnight

A street food stall selling fried rice and sauced meat in Nanjing has gained popularity online overnight.

Customers queue up a long time for a taste of the street food from midnight to 5 o’clock the next day near Confucius Temple, a famous scenic spot in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province of east China.

At 0:20 on August 30, some 400 people had gathered to wait for the fried rice stall open. The huge crowd caused severe traffic jam so that a patrolling SWAT team came and persuaded the vendor to leave.

The street food stall at first is known among a number of foodies. Unexpectedly, a post of several pictures of the stall and the food goes viral online. The stall is now widely known for its fried rice with unique flavor and the attractive price.

Ropes are often used for crowd control when more and more people flock to have a try in the early morning around 2:00- 3:00 a.m..

The stall is owned by a couple from Anhui province. Both of them are in their 30s. They have run the stall near the Confucius Temple for over ten years.

The husband said that he could sell two or three hundred serves of dishes every day. He added that they meticulously prepared the sauce and chose high quality rice to guarantee the quality of the food.

Regular costumers said that the couple is selling much more than, perhaps twice of the number he said.

According to local urban management department, in the early morning on Aug 30, their hotline continuously received complaints about noise causing by street food stalls.

The vendor said he would close the stall for a couple of days. When reopen, he will publish the time and location on his social media.
