BEIJING, Sept. 1 -- On the morning of August 31, the second China-US high-level meeting on satellite matters was held in Maryland, America. Dr. Zheng Guoguang, Administrator of China Meteorological Administrator (CMA), and Dr. Stephen Vols, Assistant Administrator for Satellite and Information Services of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) attended the meeting.

Zheng Guoguang delivered a speech in the opening ceremony and addressed that an increasingly impeccable high-level cooperation mode will be sure to favor the mutual and even global meteorological operations and capabilities of disaster preparedness and mitigation since both CMA and NOAA are heavyweight components in providing meteorological satellite services.

Both parties involved have introduced their satellite development plans, respectively, and cooperative programs are expected to be involved with satellite instruments, orbits, products, data sharing, applications and space weather. A consensus has been reached that both the two parties should act as more contributing players in international organizations such as World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and Coordination Group for Meteorological Satellites (CGMS).

In December 2011, the first China-US high-level meeting on satellite matters was held in America. The two sides reached a consensus in meteorological satellite development strategies, planning, coordination and technologies exchange, and exciting fruits have been produced since cooperation kicked off.
