BEIJING, Sept. 1 -- China has ordered broadcasters to pull their regular entertainment programs for the next five days to make way for content on the war against Japanese aggression, as the country prepares to commemorate the 70th anniversary of victory.

The State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television will be paying close attention to the war-related programs, after it warned in a circular in May that they must take an appropriate tone.

The TV schedules have already been packed with Anti-Japanese War programs this year, but some aroused controversy for exaggerating Chinese soldiers' fighting abilities -- one fictional hero tore a Japanese soldier in half with his bare hands while another shot down a warplane with a grenade.
