Average starting pay of Chinese college grads nears 2,700 yuan

The fresh university graduates in 2015 make about 2,687 yuan monthly from their first job in China, up 244 yuan over last year, according to a recent employment report released by the Market and Media Research Center of Peking University and ganji.com.

The number of the university graduates has reached a record high of 7.49 million this year, an increase of 220,000 compared with 7.27 million graduates in 2014, according to statistics Human Resources and Social Ministry.

Although state-owned enterprises are the first job options for most university graduates. 70 percent of them still sign the contract with private enterprises. 17.3 percent choose to engage in sales, while 15.6 percent prefer to start a business.

Graduates majoring in hotel management, communication and e-commerce have the best salary in average, 3,634 yuan, 3,489 yuan, and 3,305 yuan respectively.

In terms of vocation loyalty, 47.6 percent of the graduates expect to quit their first jobs in less than one year, of which, 23.6 percent will quit in six months, and only 7.9 percent of the graduates want to stick to the first job for more than 3 years.

Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Hangzhou become the most favorite cities for Chinese graduates, among which, 13.6 percent prefer to locate in Beijing and Shanghai and 12 percent prefer to go to Shenzhen and Guangzhou.
