A replica of an ancient piece of architecture, Qifeng Ge (Phoenix Rest Pavilion), was destroyed by fire at the Daming Palace National Heritage Park in Xi’an, Northwest China’s Shaanxi province on Wednesday, according to Sina.com.
Daming Palace was the main royal palace in Tang Dynasty(618 - 907) where Tang emperors lived and dealt with state affairs. It was included in the World Heritage List on June 22, 2014.
Daming Palace has experienced centuries of ups and downs. The two-story architectural structure was built on the base of mural paintings and other historical relics
The fire started around 1:20am Wednesday and was put out within four hours. No injures were reported .
