Consumers' preferences have undergone profound changes as a result of years of economic and social development in China.
The shift brings continued strong demand for unique and customized products in the market.
Now pioneering brands are letting customers create their own unique products. Customers can now make an appointment and select their desiring color, materials and style of the garments through apps on their smart phones.
Later a tailor is sent to the customer’s place in 72 hours to provide on-site services. And consumers will receive their customized apparel in 15 days.
Product customization helps the brand boost sales despite an overall decline in garment sales said Wu Zhize, chairman of the board of Saint Angelo Group, who eyes the huge potential of the emerging market.
To take personalization a big step forward into mass customization, an intelligent production line is urgently needed because the conventional production line brings problems such as high cost and low efficiency in practice.
According to Wu, there are more than 20,000 tailor workshops in China, which have a good reputation. They also have the long-term advocacy of many customers, though many of them are old fashioned and of backward management.
Through an intelligent platform, those workshops are gathered and turned into cutting edge "image designing" studios, which can elevate customer loyalty and use their customer base as an engine of advocacy to potential buyers.
Meanwhile, the cost of personalized products will significantly decline by centralizing the procurement of materials.
In May this year, the State Council issued the "Made in China 2025" plan, the country’s first ten-year action plan focusing on promoting manufacturing. Traditional manufacturing enterprises should seize the opportunity to adapt to the new era and develop into intelligent enterprises.
