Chinese movie City of Life and Death has been available on Japan's biggest video website Niconico as of Aug 18, 2015. An hour after its release, about over 15,000 people in Japan watched the movie.

Professor Hisashi Inoue from Surugadai University points out that the release of the movie on Internet can be a window for some Japanese to learn about history. Tokushi Kasahara, professor of Tsuru University says that it is very important to let more Japanese know about the truth. He hopes people in Japan can watch this movie with an unbiased mind.

City of Life and Death, which is also known by the name of Nanjing! Nanjing!, is a film about the Nanjing Massacre which happened shortly after the beginning of the Anti-Japanese War. Nanjing Massacre was a period of several weeks wherein massive numbers of Chinese soldiers and civilians were killed by the Japanese military.
