JIANLI, Hubei Province, June 5 -- The cruise ship that capsized in the Yangtze River on Monday night carrying 456 people is being hoisted from the river after rescuers righted it on Friday morning.
Rescuers have retrieved 97 bodies from Eastern Star and found 14 people alive. The decision to right the upturned ship and hoist it above water came after three days combing through the ship for survivors.
Carrying mainly elderly tourists, Eastern Star was on an 11-day trip along the Yangtze when it was overturned on Monday night in Jianli in central China's Hubei Province.
