Barnes & Noble Bookstore on the Broadway has created a special zone for the English versions of Chinese titles to welcome BookExpo America (BEA) 2015, which is being held in New York City from May 27 to May 31, 2015, with China as the guest of honor this year.
Opened before the opening of the BEA, this special zone on the first floor of the Barnes & Noble Bookstore on the Upper West Side, New York has both fiction and non-fiction. And new books, including President Xi Jinping's The Governance of China, are displayed in the window along the street. A total of 2,000 book titles are exhibited in the special zone, which is also the first time that Chinese books have entered a western main stream bookstore in large numbers and directed at a purely commercial readership.
Wu Shangzhi, deputy director of China's State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, said when addressing the opening ceremony that the special zone at Barnes & Noble Bookstore displays the latest achievements of China's publication industry and the books will bring American readers a real and full image of China.
Amazon.com is also doing a two-month special sale for China-themed books from May 1 to June 30.
