MACAO, April 22 -- The Macao Grand Prix Committee ( MGPC) announced on Wednesday that the 62nd Macao Grand Prix will be held form Nov. 19 to 22 this year.

The line-up of the event this year comprises seven races, which can be categorized into three groups, said Coordinator of Sporting Subcommittee Chong Coc Veng.

The first two races include Formula 3 which allows the finest young open wheel divers competing in Macao, and Motorcycle Macao Grand Prix that brings the top riders of the world's leading road races here.

The second group includes the Guia Race of Macao held since 1972, and Macao GT Cup founded in 2008, while the third should be supporting races which cover Macao Touring Car Cup, Macao Road Sport Challenge and a commercial race for celebrities called Suncity Lotus Celebrity Cup Race.

"I believe the running of the event will be more exciting than ever, with unique Federation Internationale de I'Automobile (FIA) Formula 3 Intercontinental Cup held only in Macao, and we will working with FIA to launch the first-ever FIA GT World Cup in Macao," said Coordinator of MGPC Engineer Joao Manuel Costa Antunes.

Established in 1954, Macao Grand Prix was originally an amateur event for local motoring enthusiasts, and developed into an annual professional event gradually. Each November more than 200 competitors as well as thousands of motor sports fans descend on the city for the famous international street circuit race meeting which features both car and motorcycle races.
