HANGZHOU, April 16 -- Police in east China's Zhejiang Province have detained two men believed to be responsible for the collapse of a climbing facility in Cangnan County that claimed two lives and left 48 injured.
The accident happened on Tuesday at an outward bound base operated by the company. Dozens of tourists had clambered onto a climbing net to get a better view of a flower gala when the structure collapsed.
The men in custody are Zheng, the legal representative of the outward bound company in Fanshan Township, and Li, vice general manager. The head of the township has been suspended from his post.
When rhododendron flowers reach full bloom in the local mountains every April, Cangnan's gala attracts a large number of tourists as residents stage dazzling performances.
