A Hong Kong woman has been caught by Huanggang Customs in Southern China's city of Shenzhen for trying to smuggle over 1.6 million yuan worth of cash from the mainland to Hong Kong.
The large sum of cash was strapped to her chest, along her thighs and hidden in her shoes.
The cash consisted of 1.5 million Hong Kong dollars and 49 thousand euros.
Authorities say they were suspicious of the woman because of her odd posture and weird clothes.
They later found that she had traveled from Hong Kong to Shenzhen 90 times in 15 days.
Authorities believe the case may involve underground money exchangers. Illegal banks transfer money from the mainland to Hong Kong to avoid the supervision of customs.
The recent rise in Hong Kong stock market has stimulated this kind of illegal act.
