MOSCOW, April 7 -- Ukraine's recent decision to deny the entry of a Russian journalist was far from civilized, but Russia is not going to respond in the same manner, the Kremlin said Tuesday.

"Besides routine violations of the February Minsk accords about cease-fire in Donbass, Kiev also prevents normal work of Russian journalists," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

Earlier this week, Alexander Kopnov, deputy chief of Russia's TASS news agency, was denied permission to cross the Ukrainian border.

Meanwhile, Peskov said Russia has no intention to restrict the work of Ukrainian media in the country.

"Moscow is not going to respond in an uncivilized way to the uncivilized behavior," he said.

However, the spokesman added that some responsive measures could be applied to Ukrainian officials responsible for hampering the work of Russian media in Ukraine.

Kopnov is not the first Russian journalist facing restrictions on news reporting in Ukraine.

In February, Ukraine approved a resolution to suspend the accreditation of the Russian journalists and technical staff of some Russian media groups as resident reporters at Ukrainian government departments, and compiled a list of over 100 non-grata Russian reporters.

Moscow denounced the measures as "running against the notion of a modern, free and democratic state."
