NAY PYI TAW, March 27-- Commander-in-Chief of Myanmar's Defense Services Senior-General Min Aung Hlaing pledged on Friday to cooperate with electoral organizations in the country to work for the November general election.
Min Aung Hlaing made the pledge in his address at a military parade in Nay Pyi Taw to mark the 70th anniversary the Armed Forces Day.
The election to be held in early November will be a milestone in the implementation of Myanmar's democratic system, and the armed forces will join hands with the authorities concerned and the people to make the election a success, he said.
He stressed that stability and peace and rule of law are key requirements for the systematic, peaceful and successful holding of the vote, warning that the armed forces will not tolerate acts that undermine the election and forced voting through threat.
The Armed Forces Day, also known as the Resistance (against Fascist) Day, is usually celebrated with a military parade.
