HOUSTON, March 25-- A pilot managed to get out of a seaplane that crash landed at a private airport in the U.S. state of Texas and swam to safety Wednesday, local media reported.
The small seaplane crashed in the water runway at David Wayne Hooks Memorial Airport near Houston and then flipped over, according to local TV KTRK.
The pilot, the only person on board, was able to get out of the plane and swam to the water's edge. He was treated at the scene and seemed to be in good condition.
The airport was temporarily shut down but has since reopened. Investigators are looking into the cause of the accident. It's believed the pilot forgot to retract his pavement landing gear when he landed in the water.
