In 2014, Asia ranked the first in the demand of the industrial robot in the world and China became the world's biggest consumer of industrial robot with 54 percent growth, according to a report released by Frankfurt-based International Association of Robot on Monday.
Sales of industrial robots worldwide rose 27 percent and about 225,000 robots were sold, about two-thirds of them in Asia.
A total of 56,000 industrial robots were sold in Chinese market in 2014, among which 10,600 units came from local suppliers and the rest from overseas suppliers such as Switzerland's ABB Group and Germany's Kuka
The combined sales in China, South Korea, Japan, the US and Germany accounted for 75 percent of the total in the world.
