BEIJING, March 18 -- The "Belt and Road" initiatives provide rare opportunity for Ningxia, an inland autonomous region in northwestern China, said Li Jianhua, a NPC deputy and CPC Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region committee secretary.

Unlike the coastal provinces, the key of the opening up of inland regions is to give full play of their own strengths, Li made it clear in an interview with Xinhuanet lately.

As one of China's less-developed inland areas, Ningxia is active and vigorous in integrating into the initiatives and building strategic fulcrum of the Silk Road Economic Belt.

He noted Ningxia will build passages in the air, online, over land for the Silk Road Economic Belt to link with the Arab and other parts of the world.

Ningxia will further improve the Yinchuan Hedong International Airport, accelerate the third phase of its extension project while planning for the fourth phase, he said.

It will also speed up the building of the Cloud computing base, develop the Cloud service industry and cross-border e-commerce, for facilitating local specialty products to go abroad, he added.

Besides, Ningxia will join the national high-speed rail network by expanding or revamping the trunk lines, the Baotou-Lanzhou Railway, Taiyuan-Zhongwei(Yinchuan) Railway and Baoji-Zhongwei Railway, he added.
