BEIJING, March 20 -- China has shut down 2,446 factories in a campaign to improve fire prevention, said an official from the Public Security Ministry on Friday.
Yu Jianhua, head of the ministry's fire department, said fire police and work safety supervisors also partially suspended the operation of some 1,745 enterprises for fire risks.
The one-year campaign, which started in December, mainly targets fire risks in labor-intensive factories.
