BEIJING, March 13 -- Today is the last day of this year's CPPCCNational Committee meeting, and political advisors are busy discussing their proposals for China’s future.
A press briefing by the National People's Congress annual session was held this morning.
Five NPCdeputies from China's education system, including three university presidents and two provincial education officials, took questions from the media on how to improve the country's higher education system. Topics included national support for education, educational reforms and encouraging graduates to start their own businesses.
"We need to encourage college graduates, especially the outstanding ones, to start their own enterprises. Entrepreneurship by outstanding students will use their knowledge and wisdom to set up hi-tech companies," said Xie Heping, president of Sichuan University.
"It would help to forge a group of highly competitive enterprises, and hence to upgrade the Chinese economy and society."
