Deputy Editor-in-Chief of People's Daily meets with DMGT Chairman

BEIJING, March 6 (People’s Daily Online) - A delegation led by Jonathan Harmsworth, 4th Viscount Rothermere and Chairman of Daily Mail and General Trust (DMGT), visited People's Daily Online on Wednesday.

Harmsworth had a friendly talk with Yan Xiaoming, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of People's Daily. After the talk, Harmsworth watched the presentation of the "Foreign Media" Channel of People's Daily Online and toured People's Daily Online in the company of Liao Hong, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of People’s Daily Online.

By launching the "Foreign Media" Channel, People’s Daily Online aims to cooperate with prestigious media organizations in the world. The partnership between People's Daily Online and Daily Mail will promote mutual understanding between Chinese and British and contribute to the further development of bilateral relations.

The two sides have authorized each other to share contents among their own readers group.

"The cooperation between People’s Daily Online and Mail Online will set up a new model for Chinese media to work with overseas partners. We expect to provide more information and a broader view to internet readers worldwide,” said Liao Hong.

Jonathan Harmsworth said, "Following the announcement of MailOnline’s partnership with People’s Daily Online, I am honoured to have been invited to visit People’s Daily in Beijing in order to share our thinking on the global news industry and to discuss the operations of our respective institution.”
