In recent days, some Western media fabricated a new theory of "Chinese responsibility of anti-terrorism" while reporting a series of terrorist attacks in China. Unfortunately, these news articles with colored glasses reflect the unchanged arrogance, ignorance and hypocrisy of some Western people.
The theory that the ethnic policies in China create a fertile ground for the terrorist groups in the Middle East is a profoundly ignorant conception. Terrorism is a worldwide non-traditional security threat, which poses increasingly severe challenges to mankind. It doesn't correlate with a particular ethnic group. Any extreme idea could spread and become terrorism.
Not long ago, the terrorist attack on the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris has led to outbreaks of violence against innocent Muslims in many Western countries. Thus, a number of people of insight have come out against labeling the entire group as terrorists.
Similarly, terrorism in China does not come from certain ethnic groups, but from the complicated historical and international background. The practice of China's religious policies has been proved to be successful and popular. Chinese people of all ethnicities have been enjoying the policies with the improvement of equality, freedom and mutual help, while sharing the fruitful results of development.
It is well known that the influence of the terrorist group East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) has risen with the background of religious extremism and national separatism, and it has very close ties with religious extremism in the Middle East. Therefore, how could it be the responsibility of Chinese religious policies, when the terrorist incidents were conducted together by ETIM and foreign forces from the Middle East?
Making accusations against China's anti-terrorism policy is an act of arrogance. China always plays a significant role that shoulders its responsibility and plays its important part in maintaining world peace.
Moreover, the violent attacks in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, Yunnan Province, and even the capital Beijing are a reminder that China is also a victim of terrorism. In the light of this, China always supports combating terrorism with all countries under the framework of the UN and the UN Security Council.
Since the September 11 attacks, the Chinese government has been firmly supporting and joining the international anti-terror cooperation, and we have considerably helped contain the expansion of terrorist groups by sharing information, cutting the financial sources of terrorism, as well as extraditing and repatriating terrorist suspects.
If Western countries like the US can put more efforts into strengthening international cooperation and promoting North-South Dialogue, instead of defaming others' religion and lifestyles, arbitrarily issuing sanctions or taking repressive measures against other countries, striking or fighting against countries that do not follow their policies, there will be a greater chance of completely wiping out terrorism in the future.
