The two sessions is shorthand for the annual sessions of the National People's Congress (NPC) and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). On March 2, the 3rd session of the 12th CPPCC National Committee held a news conference to announce the beginning of the two sessions. There are 60 million overseas Chinese. What concerns them most about the two sessions?

Xu Deqing has a company encouraging young Chinese to start their own businesses. He attended the 4th National Committee of the 10th CPPCC in 2006. “I keep my eye on new measures about innovation and entrepreneurship.”

Overseas Chinese in countries along the Silk Road are most interested in China’s “One Belt One Road” initiative. Chinese businessman Han Dongqi in Sri Lanka expresses a concern that some countries involved harbor doubts about the initiatives, seeing China as a tiger and themselves as little rabbits.

Shen Tie, the head of the Tianjin Association in Australia says that the ‘rule of law’ proposed by Xi Jinping will be important for the Chinese administration in the future. He adds that fast-developing China will encounter numerous legal problems, and the law should be equipped to cope. Shen Tie also speaks highly of China’s anti-corruption campaign.

Cui Qingfeng, head of the Chinese Expatriate Association in South Korea, works on promoting cultural exchanges between China and South Korean. He proposes that China should set up a China-South Korean Free Trade Agreement as soon as possible, and speed up customs clearance. He also suggests that China give support to the establishment of Chinese schools overseas and create a good environment for overseas Chinese to start up businesses. He adds that China should produce more policies benefiting people in health care, education and old-aged security.
