BEIJING, Feb. 19 -- The Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) will allocate 300 million yuan (47.97 million U.S. dollars) for the reconstruction of Ludian County in Yunnan Province.
It has signed a memorandum with the Yunnan provincial government to help with the rebuilding of public infrastructure, including education and health facilities, as well as the reconstruction of private houses.
It will help enhance the disaster resilience of communities and their capacity for sustainable development, the RCSC said.
A 6.5-magnitude earthquake hit Ludian on Aug. 3, 2014, killing more than 600 people.
The RCSC carried out rescue work right after the quake and has decided to help rebuild 27 schools, 31 small hospitals for townships, 102 village clinics, and over 1,600 houses.
