BEIJING, Feb. 17 -- Three senior provincial officials have been put under criminal investigation over allegations of taking bribes, said the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) on Tuesday.

The officials are Zhu Mingguo, former chairman of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Wang Min, former member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Shandong Provincial Committee and Party chief of its provincial capital Jinan City, and Chen Chuanping, former member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shanxi Provincial Committee and Party chief of its provincial capital Taiyuan city.

The SPP has taken "coercive measures" against them, it said.

According to the Criminal Procedure Law, coercive measures include summons by force, bail, residential surveillance, detention and arrest.

The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) on Tuesday also announced the expulsion of the three officials from Party and office.
