MINSK, Feb. 11 -- Some 5,000 Chinese books displayed at the 22nd Minsk International Book Fair have attracted Belarussians on Wednesday at the Belarussian national exhibition center.
The Chinese exhibition takes up an area of over 400 square meters of the exhibition center, and comprises eight sections with different themes including celebration of the 70th anniversary of the victory in World Anti-Fascist War, publishing and printing in ancient China and so on.
During a live show of Chinese woodblock printing technique, many people queued up for the prints of the Portrait of Four Chinese Ancient Beauties.
Galina, who came to the book fair specially for Chinese books, said that she was fascinated by the Chinese sage Laozi after she read related books.
As the guest of honor of the fair, China sent a delegation of 79 professionals for various exchange activities during the book fair, such as the meeting of Chinese and Belarussian writers and seminar on literary translation.
Yan Xiaohong, deputy director of the State General Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, earlier on Wednesday met with Belarussian Information Minster Liliya Ananich.
The two officials signed the memorandum of translation and publication of Chinese and Belarussian classic books. According to the memorandum, at least 25 classics are to be translated and published by the two countries in five years.
The Minsk International Book Fair, which will last for five days, attracted publishers from 28 countries.
