China, MSC to deepen cooperation

MUNICH, Feb. 7 -- Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi met chairman of Munich Security Conference (MSC) Wolfgang Ischinger on Friday when attending the 51st MSC with the two parties agreeing to deepen mutual cooperation.

Yang Jiechi considered the MSC as one of the most important international forums in the field of international strategy and security policy, and he said that China attaches great importance to the MSC.

In recent years China has sent high-ranking Chinese officials to the conference, in which they have discussed comprehensively with other participants on topics about international security policy, anti-terrorism, regional security situation and global governance, and this has played an important role in enhancing mutual understanding and cooperation, Yang said.

China will continue to support and participate in events related to the MSC, introduce the concept and practice of Chinese diplomacy and security policy, exchange views with other parties about current international situation, especially the that of international security situation, Yang noted, adding that China will hold in-depth discussions on how to build a new international relationship based on the core of cooperation and win-win.

Ischinger expressed his thanks to Yang Jiechi for delivering a speech at the opening ceremony. He said that Yang's policy statement in the speech is comprehensive and profound, which helped participants to know China's security concepts, its standpoint on most concerned current issues and China's contributions to the maintenance of international regional security.

It also makes this year's MSC more global and attractive, he said.

In addition, Ischinger thanked China for its active support of the MSC and relating activities over the years, hoped to strengthen cooperation with China, and to show China's importance in the field of international security more prominently under the mechanism of the MSC.

Both parties also exchanged views on Sino-German relations, China-European relations and international security and regional central issues.
