BEIJING, Feb. 6 -- YYets.com, a subtitle website that was shut down in a piracy crackdown last December, made a comeback Friday announcing that it had transformed into an online community providing information related to American TV series.

"Here you can find exhaustive news about American TV series, learn more about them and meet friends with similar interests," said a statement posted on YYets.com, after which users were redirected to its new domain rrmj.tv.

The new websites provides information on past and future episodes. The statement also said that it would launch a mobile application after Chinese Lunar New Year.

Along with Shooter.cn, YYets.com had provided free subtitles for English-language movies and TV series for years, until the end of 2014, when both were abruptly shut down. Before that, the Motion Picture Association of America accused YYets.com of linking to pirated content.

As of Friday afternoon, Shooter.cn is still not back online.

American TV series have a wide fan base in China. Thanks to the efforts of translation groups, fans in China were able to watch episodes as soon as they had been aired on American TV networks.
