BEIJING, Jan. 28 -- Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will pay an official visit to China from Saturday to Tuesday, as a guest of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, China's Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday.

Swaraj, on her first visit to China since taking office, will meet with Chinese leaders and hold talks with Wang, said spokesperson Hua Chunying.

Swaraj will also attend the launch ceremony of the Indian Tourism Year as well as the opening ceremony of a China-India media summit, Hua said.

"As the two largest developing countries and important emerging economies, China and India have maintained sustainable and healthy development of their strategic and cooperative partnership for peace and prosperity, featuring deepened political mutual trust, fruitful cooperation and sound coordination in international and regional affairs," said the spokesperson.

Last September, Chinese President Xi Jinping visited India, which resulted in the setting up of a framework for China-India cooperation for the next five to 10 years.

China is willing to work with India to forge a closer partnership, so as to achieve common development, Hua said.
