HANGZHOU, -- Rescuers are searching for 26 backpackers who were trapped in a mountain in east China's Zhejiang Province Saturday.
Fire fighters in Anji County said several groups of rescuers had joined in the search in Longwang Mountain known for its steep cliffs and deep valleys.
Police received a report Saturday afternoon from the trip's organizer about losing contact with the 26 backpackers. Rescuers later contacted the group and said they were in safe condition.
China has reported a spate of incidents about untrained adventurers getting trapped in mountains in recent years as backpacking gained fashion among wealthy urbanites.
