CHENGDU, Jan. 17 -- Late Chinese pop singer Yao Beina, who lost her battle with breast cancer on Friday afternoon, has had her corneas donated.

One of her corneas will be delivered to an ophthalmic hospital in Chengdu, southwest China's Sichuan Province, on Saturday night, and will be donated to a 23-year-old man from Sichuan's Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture.

Her other cornea will be delivered to the southern metropolis of Shenzhen, in accordance with Yao's last will. Yao died in a Shenzhen hospital at the age of 33.

A professional singer, Yao shot to fame with the theme tune of "The Legend of Zhen Huan", a popular TV drama that depicts life in the imperial court. Her career skyrocketed after she attended the Voice of China in 2013.

While prompting a massive wave of condolences online, her death spurred discussions about the extent of news coverage, as rumors swirled around that several journalists posed as medical staff to take pictures of Yao's body in the hospital mortuary.

Her death has brought breast cancer to the fore again, following American actress Angelina Jolie undergoing a mastectomy.

According to an article on Guokr.com, a science website, child birth at a late age, sleep deprivation and irregular medical checks are among the many factors that contribute to breast cancer.
