CHANGSHA, Dec. 19 -- Four people were killed in an explosion at a firecrackers workshop on Thursday in Wugang City in central China's Hunan Province, according to a brief statement from the city's publicity department.

The workshop was operating in an illegal way, said the statement, without giving more details.
