ATHENS, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras said Tuesday that China remained side by side with Greece during economic difficulties caused by the global financial crisis.
He made these remarks while meeting with Du Qinglin, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, China's top political advisory body.
Samaras said that China has become a strong engine of world economic development and the friendly relationship between Greece and China has reached a new high.
Du said China always regards Greece as a good friend and good partner, and is ready to work with Greece to advance the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
He expressed the hope that China-Greece bilateral cooperation could become a model for cooperation in a culturally diversified world.
In addition, Du expected that Greece could continue to play an active role in promoting China's ties with Europe.
Du also met with Greek Parliament Speaker Vangelis Meimarakis and other officials.
