TAIYUAN, Nov. 14 -- Police busted an organized car-theft ring in north China's Shanxi Province, local authorities said on Friday.
The police arrested over 20 suspects on charges of stealing more than 20 Honda cars, estimated to be worth about 5 million yuan (820,000 U.S. dollars).
Evidence shows the gang had stolen cars in Beijing, Shanxi and Hebei provinces, according to the Shanxi Police.
The gang used high-tech equipment to steal the cars and modified the vehicles with counterfeit plates and engine serial numbers.
The police tracked down six of the stolen cars, which are collectively worth more than 2 million yuan.
