YINCHUAN, Oct.2 -- World Cyber Arena (WCA) 2014, a new event for world cyber gamers, kicked off in Yinchuan, capital city of northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region on Oct 2.

Co-hosted by Yinchuan municipal government and Yinchuan International Game Investment Co.Ltd, the WCA attracted over 3,300 gamers from 29 countries and regions, such as Russia, Japan and the Philippines.

Over the next four days, gamers will compete in seven events including DOTA 2 and Warcraft III, for a total of 20 million RMB ($3.26 million) as prize money, according to the organizing committee.

The new game shared the same group competition system with the World Cyber Games (WCG), the largest global electronic sport tournament, and it also added professional individual competition to attract more gamers.

In February, 2014, The WCG committee announced to cease operating all tournaments and events this year.
