LOS ANGELES, Aug. 25 -- "Modern Family" won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series for the fifth consecutive year on Monday night.

Debuted on ABC on September 23, 2009, the series is about the story of Jay Pritchett, his second wife, his stepson, their infant son, and his two adult children -- about their lives in a suburban home in Los Angeles.

The 66th Emmy Awards ceremony also gave 25 other golden statuettes to actors, actresses, producers and other excellent people who worked for TV series.

Jim Parsons won the award for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, as Julia Louis-Dreyfus won the award for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.

For Parsons, who played Sheldon Cooper on the CBS sitcom "The Big Bang Theory," the win was his fourth in the category, and his second in a row.

The win for Louis-Dreyfus, who played the vice president in "Veep", was her third in a row. She has won five Emmys in her career, including a lead actress prize for "The New Adventures of Old Christine" and a supporting award for "Seinfeld."

Ty Burrell won his second Emmy Award for Supporting Actor in a comedy for "Modern Family." He also won the prize in 2011.

Allison Janney was named Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy for "Mom." It was her second win of Emmy. She won a prize for outstanding guest actress in a drama series for an appearance in "Masters of Sex" during the Creative Arts Emmy ceremony on Aug. 16.

Louis C.K. won the Emmy for Writing for a Comedy Series for his program "Louie."

Gail Mancuso was named Best Director for a Comedy Series for "Modern Family."

The ceremony, hosted by Seth Meyers, was held in Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.

Broadcast in more than 150 countries around the globe, the show usually attract some 600,000,000 audiences.
