Besides attending the BRICS summit, President Xi Jinping will also pay state visits to Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela and Cuba. And the president has a tight schedule, with no less than 80 diplomatic activities arranged for his Latin American tour!
At the BRICS summit, more details will be put on the table regarding the establishment of a BRICS Development Bank. Next on Xi Jinping’s agenda will be relations with South America’s economic giant, Brazil. The two sides will hold talks focusing on iron ore, as Brazil represents up to 20 percent of China’s total iron ore imports.
In Argentina, President Xi Jinping will meet President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner. The two will map out future cooperation in the fields of agriculture and mining.
Xi Jinping will then travel to Venezuela, the largest oil exporter in South America and an increasingly important energy partner for China. Xi Jinping together with President Nicolas Maduro will witness the signing of several cooperation agreements in energy, mining, finance and infrastructure.
And the last stop of the tour will take Xi Jinping to Cuba, where the long-time partners will discuss further Chinese investments.
