BEIJING, June 27 -- The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) confirmed on Friday that two lawmakers have been dismissed from their posts as NPC deputies while another has resigned.

Tan Xiwei, former deputy director of the Chongqing Municipal People's Congress Standing Committee, was disqualified as an NPC deputy in Chongqing in May.

He is suspected of being involved in serious discipline violation, according to a statement from the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in early May.

The other dismissal fell on Fang Wei, an NPC deputy elected from northeast China's Liaoning Province.

Fang, chairman of the board of Fangda Group, a carbon, steel and chemical company, was stripped of his membership of the 12th NPC by the Standing Committee of Liaoning Provincial People's Congress in May.

The announcement from the NPC Standing Committee did not explain the reason of Fang's dismissal.

In addition, the top legislature finalized the resignation of Liu Guoqing, former party chief of Zhumadian City of central China's Henan Province, as an NPC deputy.

Liu has been under corruption investigation since April, according to a statement from the Henan discipline inspection agency.

The top legislature also confirmed the election of Li Xi, Liaoning's acting governor, as a new NPC deputy.

The total number of NPC deputies currently stands at 2,977.
