BEIJING, May 27 -- The Ministry of Transport said on Tuesday that it is considering creating a unified taxi-calling platform integrating taxi calling apps, phone services and websites.
The platform will be able to transfer all the call requests from various sources to one terminal in a taxi, according the ministry.
Mobile app developers are encouraged to participate in the construction of the platform, said the ministry.
More and more taxi drivers in China are using taxi app services to supplement their business. Popular apps used include Didi and KuaiDi, which belong to Chinese Internet giants Tencent and Alibaba respectively.
The ministry is soliciting public opinions on this move and people can send their suggestions and comments to the ministry before June 10.
