Pakistan strongly condemns terror attack at China's Urumqi market

ISLAMABAD, May 22 -- Pakistan on Thursday strongly condemned the terror attack in China's Urumqi market which left at least 31 dead and 94 injured.

"Pakistan strongly condemns the terror attacks in China and shows sympathy with the government and the people of China," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said at her weekly briefing.

Two vehicles, without license plates, broke through roadside fences and plowed into people at an open air market at Park North Street near Remin Park in Urumqi early on Thursday morning, and explosive devices were set off.

In response to the attack, Chinese President Xi Jinping pledged to severely punish terrorists and spare no efforts in maintaining stability.
