TEL AVIV, May 20  -- Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong attended the opening ceremony of Israel Innovation Conference in Tel Aviv and delivered a speech on Tuesday, in which she introduced China's concepts and measures to boost innovation and suggested a worldwide win-win cooperation in innovation.

"Since the Reform and Opening-up in 1978, China implemented the strategy of rejuvenating the nation through science and education. All these efforts led to an unprecedented release of the innovation vitality," Liu said, attributing the achievement "the indispensable role of science, technology and innovation."

Liu also mentioned five aspects for China to boost innovation.

"First, China is pursuing an innovation-driven development strategy, which puts innovation at the core of national development," she noted.

Liu counted the other four aspects -- to direct innovation activities for the purpose of facilitating national development, and better combine innovation with socioeconomic progress as well as the needs for improving people's livelihood; to remain committed to the reform and opening up policies as the driving force for removing the barriers of innovation; to emphasize on the training of innovative talents through education; and to create a sound legal system ensuring innovation-driven development.

Speaking of international innovation cooperation, Liu said the objective of innovation cooperation is to generate benefits to the human being by taking a forward-looking perspective and sharing each other's weal and woe.

Liu said the potential of innovation cooperation lies in complementing each other and developing a community of innovation.

She believed the success to innovation cooperation depends on whether it is pragmatic or effective, with a clear target and a long-term mechanism.

"The cooperation in innovation is rooted among the peoples; therefore it calls for strengthened people-to-people exchanges in a global scale." Liu added.
