Education Liaoning Sets Up Website to Check Diplomas

Liaoning's board of education has set up a website to inquire whether a diploma from junior colleges in Liaoning is authentic. To discern whether a diploma is fake or authentic, the prospective employer merely needs to enter the diploma's number into the website.

In recent years, although the ministry of education has stepped up administration of graduation diplomas, the manufacture of fake diplomas has increased. In some places, there are even billboards advertising sales of fake diplomas.

According to Liaoning authorities, a work unit used to send people to a prospective employee's school to check and see if his or her diploma was authentic. Liaoning province's board of education became the first in China to set up an online inquiry system for junior college diplomas. The website is at http://www.lnein.edu.cn

If the serial number of the diploma is incorrect, a message saying "This diploma does not exist" will appear. If it is correct, the name, school, major, school system, level of education and serial number will show up on the screen.

There have already been 200 visitors to the site.
