A recent survey shows that most urban residents in China are happy with the infrastructure facilities and green belts in their cities.

As high-rise buildings and apartments become increasingly conspicuous and roads replete with flashing night lights and greenbelts across cities, a number of respondents said their cities are becoming more like to international cities.

The survey was conducted at the end of last year in Beijing, Dalian, Changchun, Harbin, Shanghai, Nanjing, Suzhou, Jinan, Zhengzhou, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Xi'an and Lanzhou, by the Beijing-based China Mainland Marketing Research Company and 13 other information and consulting services firms.

Some 53.4 percent said they are satisfied with the development of their cities, while 17 percent said they were not, according to the sample survey.

Despite efforts to make cities more green, 57.8 percent of urban residents are greatly concerned about air pollution, and 44.9 percent of them would like to see improvement in the cleanness of streets.
