Business Jiangsu Maintains Two-Digit Growth In Exports

East China's Jiangsu Province recorded a year-on-year 16.9 percent rise in exports to 18.31 billion US dollars in 1999.This has made the local exports maintain two-digit growth for 10 consecutive years.

Overseas-funded enterprises are the largest contributor to the local exports growth, accounting for 53.8 percent of exports in 1999 or 9.86 billion US dollars, a 22.3 percent rise on 1998's figure.

The province comes in the second place in China in using 6.405 billion US dollars of overseas investment in 1999.

Jiangsu also contracted 1.229 billion US dollars worth of overseas labor service, design and consultation projects in 1999 and earned 1.014 billion US dollars. By the end of 1999, the number of local people working overseas had exceeded 51,000, a 20 percent rise from 1998.
