Business China's Top Ten Trade Partners In Jan.-Nov. 1999

Following are the latest facts and figures about China's foreign trade with the top ten trade partners in the first eleven months of 1999, provided by the General Administration of Customs:

-- Sino-US trade volume amounted to 55.549 billion U.S. dollars, up 14.9 percent from a year earlier. Exports rose 12.5 percent to 38.022 billion US dollars while imports grew 20.4 percent to 17.527 billion US dollars;

-- Sino-Japanese trade volume reached 58.823 billion US dollars, up 15.6 percent from a year earlier. Exports increased by9.8 percent to 28.843 billion US dollars while imports went up 21.8 percent to 29.980 billion US dollars;

-- China's trade volume with the European Union (EU) increased 18.0 percent to 49.934 billion US dollars. Exports went up 8.5 percent to 26.939 billion US dollars while imports soared 31.5 percent to 22.995 billion US dollars;

-- China's trade volume with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) reached 24.173 billion US dollars, up 16.9 percent from the same period of 1998. Exports went up 12.9 percent to 10.843 billion US dollars while imports increased 20.4 percent to 13.330 billion US dollars;

-- The mainland's trade volume with Hong Kong totaled 39.297 billion US dollars, down 5.0 percent. Exports slumped 6.4 percent to 33.114 billion US dollars while imports up 3.6 percent to 6.183 billion US dollars.

-- Trade volume with the Republic of Korea was 22.194 billion U.S. dollars, up 18.2 percent. Exports increased 24.8 percent to 6.858 billion US dollars and imports rose 15.5 percent to 15.336 billion US dollars;

-- The mainland's trade volume with Taiwan was 21.068 billion U.S. dollars, up 15.3 percent. Exports reached 3.563 billion US dollars, up 4.2 percent and imports grew 17.9 percent to 17.505 billion US dollars

-- Trade volume with Singapore increased 7.7 percent to 7.749 billion US dollars. Exports went up 17.8 percent to 4.055 billion US dollars and imports dropped 1.6 percent to 3.693 billion US dollars;

-- Trade volume with the Netherlands was 5.650 billion US dollars, up 6.2 percent. Exports climbed 3.9 percent to 4.757 billion US dollars and imports grew 20.7 percent to 892.625 million US dollars.

-- Sino-Australian trade volume reached 5.621 billion US dollars, up 27.3 percent. Exports rose 17.4 percent to 2.453 billion US dollars while imports jumped 36.3 percent to 3.167 billion US dollars. (Xinhua)
